Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome back, I truly appreciate it. =)
I’ve been following my skin cream regimen very religiously but here is my dilemma. Rather than use 5 different products, I want to use a maximum of 3 – an eye cream, a day and night cream, and a treatment cream. My issue is, which ones?
The skincare issues I need to target are –
Dullness, dryness, sensitivity, acne-prone, puffiness, dark circles, pigmentation Basically, any girl’s nightmare. I need something balm-like, greasy, and soothing enough for day and night wear.
I went to Douglas and obtained a generous sample of Chanel’s Beaute Initiale Energizing Multi-Protection Fluid. The saleswoman said it was for those of younger skin, looking to protect. Now, I see that, I’ve tried it, but its not moisturizing enough for day and night use. My skin is still flakey and it isn’t comforted enough. So this is definitely out of the question.
I already have a sunblock, so I don’t care much for a cream with SPF, so that I can use it at night as well. Furthermore, although the creams I use are great, I prefer a pump over a jar for obvious reasons.
Do you guys have any opinions? Recommendations? Suggestions?
Any help is much appreciated!

Unfortunately, I have taken too long to post a new entry. I owe it to the shitty personal life at the moment – but skipping that and onto the juicy stuff.
I bought three things yesterday, all of which I am (generally) happy about.
• Korres Ginger and Vitamins Foundation SPF 10 – Shade LF3
• Make Up For Ever Kohl Pencil – 4K, intense green
• Dior Dior Addict Gloss Reflect – 137, Trenchcoat Beige
Below, the swatches.
Trenchcoat Beige on my lips. Same line as Clutch Pink, but nude. I’ve been meaning to find a sophisticated nude, and this is it. It doesn’t make you look sickly, and it has just the right amount of pigment. I’ve seen some women wear somewhat opaque nude glosses, only to end up looking either sick, or tacky as hell. I think this is a silky, peachy color right here. If anyone wants a comparison of the Clutch Pink and Trenchcoat Beige, so let me know and I will next post.
So I was tired of dipping my fingers over my MAC StudioTech cream foundation and decided I wanted to opt for something more, “hygienic.” It began to smell and I wanted to try something different anyways. Sephora says this –
A lightweight, water-based foundation that is packed with vitamins to balance the skin. Korres Ginger & Vitamins Foundation provides sheer to medium buildable coverage, a creamy finish, and SPF 10 UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum sun protection. This brand favorite contains ginger to tone and clarify with Antioxidant Vitamins C and E to prevent visible signs of aging.
Formulated without: Parabens
- Sulfates
- Mineral Oils
- Petro-chemicals
- Propylene Glycols
- Ethanolomines
- GMOs
- Synthetic Dyes
- Synthetic Fragrances
So sure, why not. The girl at the counter expected me to buy a shade or two darker, but I’m not willing to do that since I need brightness, and not sallowness. The last time I listened to a sales girl, I ended up purchasing a Chanel foundation that made me look unnecessarily tan. I’m not saying tan is bad, I just think I’m naturally tanned enough.
Below, as is, and then on the right, blended on my wrist. In natural day light, on my face I noticed it wasn’t as yellow as my skin naturally is, which is a good thing because excess yellow tones don’t look too good – a color corrective purpose maybe? Because I don't think SPF 10 makes a huge difference in terms of altering the trueness of color.
There was zero greasiness, and it blended just as well as liquid based foundation. It’s consistency was no doubt lighter than usual, as it is water based, and after 8 hours, it was just as good, minimal slippage, and no unusual amount of oil buildup over the course of the day. Another thing, this foundation worked just as well, and even better than most foundations I’ve used so far, so why add all those unnecessary ingredients in the other brands? Weird. Anyway, coverage is medium, and finish is no-frills, serves the purpose and looks great. Doesn't smell great, but I think it's because they didn't mask it with any perfume. Not like I'm complaining.
Below, eye look of the day. Bobbi Brown, cream shadow in Galaxy. Nars Casino bronzer, MAC fluidline Blacktrack, Shiseido mascara Extra Length, CK liner in intense black, Anastasia Brow gel in Caramel.
It smudged a little, but it was after an entire day so, meh. I use the brow tint occasionally to soften my brows, since they’re really thick, and really dense.
If you guys want me to elaborate more, or need more info, let me know, and I’ll edit this post and follow up with you!

Dior Addict - Ultra Gloss Reflect in Clutch Pink (517) Review
12 comments Published by Mocha on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 5:03 PMOkay - here we go. I love this gloss, its the palest one I have. I just bought this yesterday and was at the end of the line until I realized I had wanted that gloss, so I went back to get it. Whatever waiting in line for it was totally worth it.
On its own on the back of my wrist... see? So pretty. =)
So, I first put on Lancome's Le Rouge Absolu in Rose Crystal. It has SPF 15 in it so it's a bonus I say. It's a tea rose, somewhat similar to the Dior gloss but its pigmented and not too shiny.
And then, I layered Dior's gloss in 517. Now it adds a healthy translucency and fullness to the lips. This is so moisturizing! And one thing I noticed, not heavily perfumed at all. The color is a sweet pale pink, and the shimmers in this are so fine so there's not a chance in hell this would appear teeny-bopperish.
I believe I'm very happy with this purchase. Originally I wanted to buy Jersey Pink, but the shimmers were not so much opalescent as they were - too obvious. I mean to say, the different colored glitters were too 80's for me. But this one was very nice. I also like another one in this new selection... it was nice, but input from *ahem* other people wasn't so positive. Apparently the other gloss I wanted matched my skin tone too much. Whatever man. Next time.
Let me know if I can expand this post!
[Edit]
Also, this is very long-lasting too!!!
